Freedom is a Place

Freedom is a Place is a character study of Hunts Point in the Bronx, Corcoran in California, and Eloy in Arizona as a series of interwoven site-specific portraits. This kaleidoscopic view of three major forms of incarceration in the US - jails, federal prisons, and ICE detention, reveals how prisons and prisoners are made.

‘Freedom is a Place’ is a term coined and used by Dr. Ruth Wilson Gilmore.
